Summary of Position:
The Membership and Annual Giving Officer is responsible for meeting the budget goals of Tacoma Art Museum (TAM) through membership and annual giving. S/he works closely with the Director of Development/Associate Director of Development on concepts and strategies for funding, manages the annual giving, reports, calendar, and communicates information and results to the Development Department on a regular basis.The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence, innovation, teamwork, and sustainable growth.
- Coordinates supporting and contributing level membership program – creates acquisition campaigns and perfects donor retention and moves management
- Coordinates major membership and Annual Fund mailings (acquisition, renewals, invitations, etc.) for mailings of 1500 or more, a mail house is used and those dealings are handled in conjunction with the Director of Development/Associate Director of Development.
- General volunteer liaison for Devo team; works to build volunteer base for supporting in-house mailing effort and other Devo team needs
- Handles all acquisition and renewal mailings; works to ensure proper benefits delivery to supporting and contributing members and annual fund contributors
- Coordinates inventory/supplies for Devo department including info packets, pledge forms, etc.
- Coordinates TAM donations of passes and memberships
- Responsible for the full array of monthly membership reports by the 10th of the month
- Liaison to Visitor Services department and meetings
- Manages member openings and VIP member events
- Manages annual Telefund campaign and Give Big campaign
- Infuses phone campaign strategies into membership/annual fund acquisition and renewal campaigns – this includes the use of the phone for stewardship purposes
- Ensures that every donor who gives $100 or more to the Annual Fund Campaign is personally called and thanked
- Plans marketing techniques for membership awareness and acquisition
- Continue innovative approach to Leroy dog bowl and other in-house donation box campaigns
- Coordinates studio and collector events in conjunctions with Patron Circle events (i.e., Behind the Scenes tours/receptions, etc.)
- Coordinates some special cultivation events like Members’ Only Hours, Member Shop Weekend, and occasional community booth participation
- Supports the implementation of reciprocity programs with other museums, including the Museum of Glass and Washington State History Museum
- Coordinates the MUSE membership program (College membership program)
- Enters data into donor database (Altru) and complete contact reports as necessary
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with regional funding community
- Experience with Altru database
- Successful track record in managing a fundraising program
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- Budget development and outcome-based evaluation experience
- Computer fluency and strong analytic skills
- Three years experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred

- 4 Day work week
- 150 hours of PTO after first 90 days of employment
