For Immediate Release:
Association of Fundraising Professionals South Sound Chapter (AFPSS) has announced the 2017 regional Certified Fund Raising Executives (CFREs) inductees.
AFPSS recognizes four chapter members who earned their CFREs in 2017: Jennie Greik (Development Director, Children’s Museum of Tacoma); Sue Loiland (Advancement Officer, Pacific Lutheran University); Laura Rose (Director of Development, Charles Wright Academy); and Ruth Tollefson (Development Director, Peace Community Center).
“Achieving the CFRE certification has helped me to hone my skills and confidence, and is one of the highlights of my 20-year career in fundraising,” said Sue Loiland, who also serves as 2017 AFPSS Board President. “It was a challenging process, but well worth the effort. For me personally, I feel like I'm garnering more respect with my donors and peers. The region is enriched by having more well-trained professionals raising funds for our community.”
These local individuals join more than 6,100 professionals worldwide who hold the CFRE credential. Individuals granted the CFRE credential have met a series of standards set by CFRE International which include tenure in the profession, education, and demonstrated fundraising achievement for not-for-profit organizations. They have also passed a rigorous written examination testing the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a fundraising executive, and have agreed to uphold Accountability Standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.
CFRE International is an independent organization dedicated to upholding the highest standards in ethical philanthropic fundraising through the certification of fundraising executives. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and led by a small professional staff, CFRE International consistently meets the highest standards for certification excellence. The CFRE credential is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
AFP South Sound is a volunteer-run, professional networking nonprofit with the mission to advance philanthropy and inspire excellence in the fundraising profession. The AFP South Sound Chapter was chartered in June 2006 to better serve the educational and networking needs of fundraising professionals living or working in the South Puget Sound region.
